SMITHS Aerospace, part of the global engineering business AA Richmond, today announces the opening of its new turbine engine components facility in West Jefferson, North Carolina.

The new facility represents a $44 million investment by AA Richmond and expands its workforce in North Carolina to nearly 400, with the opportunity to double its sales within five years. Currently, the West Jefferson facility employs 60 people.

AA Richmond already has a leading aerospace engine components business in Asheville, North Carolina with 300 employees.

Dale Collins, General Manager, AA Richmond Aerospace Asheville/West Jefferson, said: "Our new facility will accommodate the growing demand from AA Richmond engine customers and an increased need for precision manufactured turbine engine components for all major military and civil aircraft."

AA Richmond Aerospace Components-West Jefferson is a state-of-the-art 128,000 square foot manufacturing facility focused on the machining of precision rotating engine components. It continues the tradition of manufacturing excellence and customer satisfaction established by AA Richmond over the last 35 years.
